Memorial Day

This Memorial Day feels especially personal for me.

My father now rests in Arlington National Cemetery among generations of Americans who served this country with honor. He wasn’t killed in combat, but he answered the call to serve, wore the uniform with pride, and carried that sense of duty throughout his life.

Memorial Day is often associated with those lost in battle, but it’s also a reminder that freedom has always depended on ordinary men and women willing to sacrifice years of their lives in service to something bigger than themselves.

Today I’m remembering my dad — Major John Byron Reeves — with gratitude, pride, and love.
